Real Madrid have played English teams in the last six pre-seasons

As a repeat of last year, Manchester United will be Real Madrid's first opponent at the International Champions Cup 2018, meaning that on 1 August the Whites will come up against an English side for the sixth consecutive pre-season. As well as United, Real Madrid has played Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton and Bournemouth in friendly matches.

This run against English teams began in July 2013, when Real Madrid thrashed Bournemouth in England (6-0). That summer, the Whites won the International Champions Cup in the United States after beating, among other opponents, Everton (2-1) and Chelsea (3-1). A year later and in the same competition, Manchester United came up against Real Madrid in a game that was played at Michigan Stadium.

Australia and Germany
In the 2015 pre-season, Real Madrid beat Manchester City (4-1) in Melbourne (Australia) and, a few weeks later, beat Tottenham in the Audi Cup (2-0), which took place in Munich (Germany). In 2016 the Whites won against Chelsea (3-2) in Michigan, while, in 2017, they played both Manchester United and Manchester City in the last edition of the International Champions Cup, played again in the United States.
